• offensive subjects This is a case-by-case sorta thing. discussions or implications of rape, incest, pedophilia, bestiality, etc, are a huge no. homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny, ableism, etc, are also big no's. the only potential exceptions are:
-your character is talking about their past experiences and trauma that happens to involve the offensive subject in question. PLEASE talk to me first before doing this, but so long as it's all handled tactfully and with grace, its all good.
-our characters are discussing dealing with microaggressions such as homophobic slurs and ableist commentary. still probably get my permission first, but again, as long as it's tactful, I'm game.

• physical contact Medic sort of doesn't... notice that personal space exists for most people. that said, he's not used to people actually showing physical affection with him, purely because most people are a liiittle bit disturbed by him. so his reaction can differ from enjoying physical contact to "what. what the fuck is this. what does this mean". try your luck!
• romance i personally am very reluctant to rp romantic stuff due to old past experiences, unless its with ppl that are close friends. that doesnt necessarily mean im 100% opposed to it, esp since theres a lot of good medic ship opportunities out there! just communicate w/ me what you're thinking and we can try to work from there
But also: he's gay, in his 40s, and a dumbass. all three of these things are important to keep in mind. im not saying you cant have a straight woman flirt with him, but i am saying its gonna go over his head in more ways than one.
but i AM also saying that if your character is significantly younger than him- like, early 20s and younger-, please no shipping stuff. thanks
• fighting kick his ass! bear in mind, however, the man has a bonesaw and he knows how to use it. dont have your muse fight him and expect 0 retribution

•Medic is kinda fucked up. He's not very self-aware of when he's creeping someone out by waxing poetic about recent experiments and digging his hands through guts. I, however, am self aware enough to realize that that sorta thing can get uncomfortable. If you have issues with gore, medical experimentation, doctors, desecration of corpses, and anything else that may fall under that umbrella, PLEASE contact me and let me know so I can either tone down this sort of stuff in threads with you, or avoid tagging you altogether. It's no trouble at all. You can comment here, or message me on Plurk [glitchbirds], or contact my Discord if you know it.
•On a related note, no, I will not have Medic perform weird experiments on your character without your say-so. If you WANT him to do that, then let me know, though in-character he will probably try to get your character's permission first. it's one thing to perform experiments on his teammates without asking first, another thing entirely to do it to civilians. He's got SOME standards.


As a final note: Medic is not a Nazi doctor. I am a Jewish person, with half of my family born in Germany. My grandmother was held in a camp when she was young, and my grandfather's family had to change their names to avoid detection during WWII. This shit hits me personally. I consider Medic to be Jewish like myself, partially just because I want to, and partially because of certain minor details in the game hinting at it. If your character is from, like, WWII-era and is nervous around him initially, I can tolerate that, but if your character refers to him as a Nazi or in any way implies he's a Nazi, Medic will probably react violently. And I would prefer you ask me first before you just drop that in a thread.

Also, just... don't be a dick. Don't make jokes comparing him to Nazis. If I see one more person make a Josef Mengele comment I'm gonna lose my fucking mind. Don't do that shit.
